Morpheus8: RF Microneedling

At YES Medspa in Langley, BC, our experienced team can rejuvenate and firm your skin from the inside out. With a series of Morpheus8 radiofrequency (RF) microneedling treatments we help patients from Surrey, Burnaby, Abbotsford, and other nearby areas lift and tighten the skin on all areas of the body, improve the appearance of stretchmarks and scars, and reduce fine lines and wrinkles.

What Is Morpheus8?

Morpheus8, by In Mode is the first and only Health Canada-approved full-body fractional treatment designed to provide the deepest level of skin rejuvenation and collagen remodeling.

Morpheus8 is an energy-enhanced microneedling treatment that delivers radiofrequency energy to the dermis to remodel the skin and stimulate collagen production. With each treatment you will see softening of fine lines and wrinkles, increased skin tightening, and an improved appearance to scars and stretchmarks. It is safe to use on any area of the body as well as any skin type.

Plus, Morpheus8 doesn’t just address superficial tissue; it directs energy toward the adipose fat that is notorious for creating jowls, double chins, bra rolls, banana rolls, and more.

What Is Morpheus8 Body?

Morpheus8 Body is designed for deep fractional coagulation of subcutaneous tissue. Morpheus8 Body works deeper than the standard Morpheus8 handpiece to deliver the radiofrequency thermal injury down into the sub-cutaneous tissue. The patented 3D Smart Frame and Burst technology in the Morpheus8 Body handpiece allows for more effective and more efficient delivery of the RF energy.

With the 40-pin, Mopheus8 Body handpiece, we can effectively treat a variety of concerns all over the body, including:

  • Excess volume
  • Cellulite
  • Stretchmarks
  • Loose skin

How Does It Work?

Microneedling is a skin rejuvenation technique that creates tiny puncture wounds to the superficial layers of the skin. This small injury stimulates repair and an increase in the production of collagen and elastin. By itself, microneedling can achieve small improvements however, numerous treatments are needed to see worthwhile changes. It is easy to find spa- and home-grade microneedling devices online, however with medical-grade microneedling devices such as Morpheus8, the depth of penetration can be customized allowing us to adjust the degree of change to the skin.

Morpheus8 also has the added benefit of delivering RF energy “into” and “under” the skin. Radiofrequency is a type of energy that has been used for many years and is scientifically proven to deliver deep tissue heating to stimulate collagen and elastin production.

The customized depth of penetration and simultaneous delivery of RF energy provides an unmatched solution for a variety of frustrating age and skin damage related issues.

What Does the “8” Refer to?

Morpheus8 is the only device that has the ability to deliver RF energy as shallow as 1 mm into the skin surface or as deep as 8 mm, depending on the goals of treatment. The skilled physicians and aestheticians at YES will design a treatment protocol to meet your needs. Skin rejuvenation and firming treatments penetrate the skin from 1 to 4 mm deep and are designed to remodel the skin and simulate collagen. Deeper penetration is required to address fat and improve the appearance of cellulite. With Morpheus8 Body, our medical aesthetic team can treat up to 8 mm depth to target the subcutaneous fat and cellulite. This treatment can also be combined with surgical procedures in the operating room to enhance skin quality.

Who Is a Good Candidate for Morpheus8?

Morpheus8 is a multi-faceted treatment that can treat all types of skin concerns on both men and women of all ages and skin types. This treatment can be used to improve:

  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Skin laxity
  • Lower face Jowls
  • Acne scars
  • Cystic acne
  • Thin crepey skin
  • Scars (due to surgery or injury)
  • Submental fat (double chin) reduction

Your Skin Treatment Plan

Customized treatment programs are created for each individual patient. Morpheus8 treatments may be recommended alone or combined with other procedures, including:

Some patients can also benefit from combining RF microneedling with autologous conditioned plasma therapy, a treatment that applies autologous conditioned plasma (ACP) to the skin after microneedling. The skin efficiently absorbs ACP through the micro-channels created by the Morpheus8 procedure.

What To Expect

When you arrive for your treatment, our team will update your medical history and review what to expect during and after the treatment and aftercare instructions. For more shallow treatments to rejuvenate your skin, we start with a thorough cleansing of your skin and the application of topical anesthetic ointment. While this anesthetic is working you may have other body area medical spa services performed, you can read or just relax. After approximately 45-60 minutes the numbing cream is removed and your skin is again cleansed.

Your provider will perform a test spot treatment to ensure that you are comfortable and you are familiar with the treatment sensation.

During the treatment you may feel pressure from the applicator and small pricks as the microneedles puncture the skin. Mild heat can be experienced with each pulse. Each pulse covers an area about the size of a postage stamp. During treatment some patients prefer having a stream of cool air blowing. Our goal is to make your treatment efficient and comfortable. Once the entire treatment is complete, your technician will apply a soothing lotion that helps the skin heal.

Do not apply make-up for 24 hours. You can shower normally (avoiding overly hot water) and return to regular activities the following day. Of course we will also advise you about how to restart your home skin care routine.

How Many Treatments Are Needed To See Results?

For optimal results we recommend a series of 3 to 4 treatments, each spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart. At your consultation, a customized treatment plan will be developed for you based on the condition of your skin and the desired outcome.

How Long Will My Results Last?

When addressing concerns such as loose or crepey skin, maintenance treatments are recommended every 6 to 12 months. Some clients prefer to schedule maintenance treatments every 4 to 6 months to maintain their results.

For scars, stretchmarks and cystic acne, maintenance is booked as required. The degree of improvement varies with each individual, however unless a new trauma is introduced to the treated area, maintenance may not be needed for scars & stretchmarks.

Are There Any Side Effects?

Mild transient redness and swelling post treatment can be expected. Most patients are able to return to activities the next day but occasional swelling, redness or bruising persists for a few days. The microneedling aspect of treatment will leave tiny pin-point bleeding on the skin that seals within minutes of the treatment. A small crust will form and flake off in a few days. Mild tenderness or soreness may result from the absorption of RF energy and can be managed with over-the-counter pain medication. Our team will discuss the side affects you might experience during your consultation.

Morpheus8 FAQ

Does the treatment hurt?

Most patients experience minimal discomfort during Morpheus8 treatments, similar to having laser hair removal or dermal filler injections. With patient comfort a top priority, our experienced physicians will carefully determine your treatment parameters and pain management needs. For unique situations, we can administer cold air therapy, vibration, and nitrous oxide (laughing gas) during the treatment. Just ask your technician for more information.

What do you look like right after Morpheus8?

Patients typically have swelling, redness, and tingling in treated areas for 1 to 3 days after treatment. On rare occasions, there may be tiny pinpoint or larger bruises. These visible signs will vary depending on your treatment settings, treatment area, and individual patient factors. We will customize your treatment to meet your cosmetic goals and social downtime limitations.

How long does it take to see full results from Morpheus8?

Most patients attain final results about 3 months after their final Morpheus8 treatment. While improvement may be noticeable earlier, collagen takes at least 6 weeks to form and start enhancing skin texture and tone.

What’s the difference between Morpheus8 & Morpheus8 Body?

The Morpheus8 handpiece has 24 pins, making it well-suited for treating smaller treatment areas. The larger, 40-pin Morpheus8 Body handpiece makes treating larger areas faster. Its advanced technology allows us to treat subcutaneous fat and cellulite and rejuvenate the skin.

Is Morpheus8 safe?

Yes. Safe for all skin colors, Morpheus8 is the first and only fractional radiofrequency microneedling technology cleared by the U.S. FDA for soft tissue contraction. The advanced technology includes safety mechanisms that minimize the risk of burns and blistering.

Can it help fade stretch marks?

The combination of microneedling with penetrating RF energy helps remodel and replace damaged collagen to soften the appearance of stretch marks, while new elastin enhances the skin’s elasticity.
