The global Covid-19 pandemic has created many challenges for us personally and professionally. However, it has also provided everyone more time to reflect, to learn and to adapt. Healthcare will be forever changed by this public health crisis. YES Medspa and Cosmetic Surgery Centre has always tried to bring innovative and scientifically supported treatments, procedures and processes to our Vancouver-area customers. Consistent with this mission, our business has been utilizing Electronic Health Records and digital photography for more than a decade. We electronically confirm patient appointments, share digital documents and provide an online retail store to keep up with the goals of improving customer care and service. However, we have relied upon personalized in-office physician consultations to meet our expectations for client service and confidentiality.
Now is the time to change this as well. We are excited to introduce Virtual Consultations and have expanded our exclusive and secure MyPatientVisit Portal to better serve all our patients while maintaining patient security and confidentiality. Virtual (online) consultations are a fantastic way to meet, get to know and continue relationships with us from the comfort of your own home.
At YES Medspa & Cosmetic Surgery Centre, we carefully evaluated our options and found solutions that aligned with our values around patient confidentiality and medical professionalism. We observed many medical offices adopt ZOOM, FaceTime, Skype, WhatsApp or other social video chat platforms quickly. We took extra steps to find a video conferencing tool that was designed for Virtual Medical communications. Discussing your personal medical information electronically requires a higher level of security in order to maintain professional standards. In Canada, these standards are legislated by PIPEDA and in the United States by HIPPA. We also searched for and found a Virtual Consultation service that allowed us to customize your experience with Your Esthetic Solutions business divisions.
Who is a Candidate for Video Consultation?
Any person looking to gather more information about their aesthetic surgical and treatment options is a candidate for Virtual Consultation. We know that we will not be able to get back to “business as usual” any time soon. In fact, we are now adapting to create a better business experience. Initial consultations using technology will help you to get the answers and information you are looking for quickly. Our current and new clients from all over Canada will be able to safely communicate electronically with our extremely experienced and dedicated team. Dr. Mosher, Dr. Lo, Patient Care Coordinators and our MedSpa team are now more accessible than ever. Flexible consultation appointment times online are available for those clients unable to take the additional time required to visit our office in Langley.
How do I set up a Consultation with the Doctors?
We pride ourselves on being patient educators first. Therefore, your first contact with our office will be a telephone call with one of our very knowledgeable Patient Care Coordinators. They truly are experts at providing you with general information about treatments and procedures as well as helping you to determine your next steps. For those ready to meet one of our physicians, they will determine whether an in-office or a Virtual Consultation makes the most sense for your unique situation. In both scenarios, we will get to know you further and determine your customized treatment plan. Prior to your consultation with the physician, you will be sent an email with a link to our secure online patient portal called MyPatientVisit. Once you’ve created your secure personal account, you will be able to view all of your scheduled appointments, send secure and tracked electronic messages to our team, upload any documents we need directly to your medical chart. This is also where you will find and complete any required pre-consultation medical history forms and questionnaires.
If you choose a Virtual Consultation, your coordinator will give you instructions on how to upload photos that will assist your physician in providing you with advice. We insist on maintaining a professional and secure approach to the sharing of such important and personal information. Emailing private information is not secure or safe and will not be accepted from a source outside of the MyPatientVisit portal.
What will take place during the Virtual Consultation?
You will electronically meet “face to face” with your Dr. Mosher or Dr. Lo along with one of our patient care coordinators. A desktop with a camera and microphone, a laptop, tablet or smart phone is all that you need. Links will be sent to you that connect you directly to our Virtual Waiting Room. When the doctor is ready to join you online, you will be connected and you consultation will
take place. In most cases, we will be able to answer your questions and make a treatment plan for you to consider. Of course, the final treatment plan will still depend upon an in-person review with the doctor once you feel ready to move to that next stage. This office visit will give you and our physicians another opportunity to decide if we are ready to move forward. The Virtual Consultation often means that you will save time in gathering the information you require as well as getting your treatment or procedure completed. For non-surgical treatments, we are often able to perform your treatment on the same day as your first visit to the office.
Having secure “virtual meetings” can also be a beneficial methods for our nurses and medical aestheticians to provide further education and assessments remotely.
Is there a fee for a Virtual Consultation?
Whether you are meeting your physician in the office or via Virtual Consultation, you will be getting personalized “face to face” advice. To reserve your appointment with our doctors, a consultation fee of $100 is collected at time of scheduling. This fee secures your appointment time. It will also be applied to your procedure, should you choose to move ahead with surgery or a recommended treatment plan. This consultation fee is 100% refundable as long as you provide two business days’ notice of any changes or cancellation requirements. Virtual Consultations with our medical aestheticians for non-surgical treatment options and skin care recommendations are complimentary.
The “New Normal” now includes flexible consultation options for our clients. As the times change and new technologies are introduced, YES Medspa & Cosmetic Surgery Centre will always strive to be at the forefront of innovation, while ensuring to bring only the safest and scientifically supported options to our clients.
